Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
Part 1, student to receive by email the online course which is to be completed within 5 business days of receipt. Once Part 1 is completed and the certificate of completion is in hand, a date and time will be set with an AHA Instructor. To complete Part 2, the hands on or Skill Test portion of the course, you will need to contact the Institute for Therapeutic Massage and speak with Stephen 973-839-6131, After COMPLETION OF PART 1. (Completion Sheet must be presented to AHA instructor to participate in skills testing)
Part 2, Skills Test with AHA instructor to complete certification process. (You are responsible to be able to conduct the skills learned in Part 1 in front of the an American Heart Association Training Instructor). Once the required skills have been completed in Part 2 and marked as satisfactory, your skills test will be forwarded to the AHA to be processed. Your should expect to have your Renewal card with in 14 business days upon completion of the entire course mailed directly to the address you provided on your skills test.
**CPR renewal does not carry any Continuing Education Units for use towards state licensing or national certification, as it is a requirement to qualify for both.** Part 2 of the skills test is available Monday through Thursday in Haskell/Wanaque from 7am - 2pm, arrangements can be made with instructor to schedule alternate times and locations if needed
