Institute for Therapeutic Massage (ITM) will be hosting an Open House next Wednesday, September 29th from 6:30-9:00pm at the Red Bank Campus, which is located at 213 (State) Route 35N, in Red Bank, Monmouth County, New Jersey 07701.
This informative session will present an opportunity for those who are interested in learning massage therapy, shiatsu, and personal training, to ask questions to an Admissions Representative, Financial Aid representative, and teachers from the Education Department in a no-pressure environment. There will be a chair massage demonstration, student clinic massage gift certificate give away (a $35.00 value), and refreshments will be served.
Some of the typical questions that we get asked, and will be answered include, but are not limited to:
Job Market & Placement – Where can I work as a Massage Therapist, Shiatsu Practitioner, and Personal Trainer in New Jersey? How has the economy effected therapists, and are they working? How much are therapists making?
New Jersey and New York Licensure & Certification – What are the requirements to practice, and what kind of certificate do I receive when I become a massage therapist and / or personal trainer? How many are required?
Continuing Education – What classes do you have available at your schools in Northern, Central & Southern New Jersey?
Financial Aid – Do you offer it, and what kind of assistance is available to me? Stafford / Federal Student Loans, Pell Grants, etc.
Business Opportunities – Can I open my own business? Who typically hires massage therapists?
Schools – How does your school compare to other institutions where I can learn to become a massage therapist in New Jersey? Who owns / runs the school? Are they massage therapists, or corporations? Who are the teachers, and what are their credentials? How big are the classes?
Accreditation – Are you accredited? Is it important to go to attend an accredited school? What is COMTA? Who are AMTA and ABMP?
Programs – What are the different programs you offer? Why do you seem to be emphasizing medical massage therapy, particularly as it relates to hospital based / oncology massage? Does Personal Training really complement massage therapy with regards to a career? How long are they? How many days / nights per week?
